About Momentum Worldwide
Subsidiaries of this company come between brands and the general public. The Interpublic Group of Companies is one of the world's largest advertising and marketing services conglomerates, operating through offices in more than 100 countries. Its flagship creative agencies include McCann Worldgroup, DraftFCB, and Lowe & Partners, while such firms as Campbell-Ewald, Deutsch, and Hill, Holliday are leaders in the US advertising business. Interpublic also offers direct marketing, media services, and public relations through such agencies as Initiative and Weber Shandwick. Its largest clients include General Motors, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, and Unilever.
Financials
As with most global companies in the advertising industry, Interpublic experienced a lower demand for its products and services amid the recession. However, the company has seen its revenues and profits steadily increasing again since 2009. In 2011 revenue spiked above $7 billion.
Strategy
Over the years Interpublic's growth strategy has involved acquisitions and acquiring controlling stakes in emerging markets. Interpublic integrates acquisitions into its global network of existing agencies. Many of its purchases include firms specializing in digital and social media, healthcare communications, and public relations.
Mergers & Acquisitions
In 2012 Interpublic improved its position in the important European market when it obtained Nicole Weber Communications (NWC), a consumer lifestyle agency with offices in Hamburg and Munich. Also in 2012, Interpublic acquired UK-based digital and interactive agency FUSE. Both NWC and FUSE were added to the company's GolinHarris network.
In 2010 Interpublic gained ground in the largest country in South America when it acquired CUBOCC, a creative advertising strategy firm well-versed in all forms of digital media. Based in Brazil, CUBOCC works with multinational clients such as Unilever. A few months later, Interpublic snatched up London-based marketing agency Delaney Lund Knox Warren & Partners (DLKW) for $40 million in cash. Interpublic combined DLKW with Lowe London, a unit owned by its Lowe & Partners subsidiary. The combined operations were rebranded as DLKW Lowe and now serve as a major hub agency for Lowe's advertising and marketing network.
