Our story begins in 1994 when Norwex first started in Norway, under the name Eidsvoll Miljoprodukter. The concept of Cleaning without Chemicals spread quickly, and today we also operate in Canada, the United States, Australia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. With international expansion plans in the making, we look forward to spreading our mission of radically reducing chemicals in our homes, to countries around the world.
Our History
1994
It all began in Norway with bugs on a windshield. In 1994, Bjorn Nicolaisen was introduced to a miraculous cloth that could effectively clean a very dirty windshield with the use of simple microfiber and water. Norwegian operation opens as Eidsvoll Miljoprodukter and the revolutionary “Cleaning without Chemicals” is born. At the time, this was an innovative cutting-edge approach to cleaning – an approach which focused on reducing the use of chemicals in the cleaning process.
Eidsvoll Miljoprodukter - first headquarters buildingThe revolutionary concept of “Cleaning without Chemicals” was embraced and the Norwegian business grew quickly throughout the country. To support the growth, the company maintained its modest building and invested the profits into building the support systems for the Consultants. From the beginning our Consultants, Customers and employees are our most valuable assets and we were already making a difference in the their lives.

The Norwex Purpose touches many faces of life with the end result being the ability to collectively make a powerful and positive difference in the world we live in and the lives we touch. We strive to improve quality of life for present and future generations.
We also believe in helping others in each of our communities. Whether it is donating time, money or goods, charitable efforts are an integral part of who we are, both as a company, as Consultants and as employees. In 2012, we formalized our charitable efforts into a new initiative designed to help individuals at a grass roots level. Our Consultants helped us to identify non-profits in their own communities that needed our support. And we responded with monetary donations throughout our global markets. This is just the beginning of our charitable efforts; we are actively creating a program to share our abundance throughout the world.
We also believe that given a choice, people would choose a sustainable lifestyle. Our products, our support services and even our packaging have been created to ensure quality as well as environmental and social consciousness.
Our mission is one of respect. We understand that the opportunity to affect people’s lives with information and products is both a privilege and a responsibility.
