About Surex
Surex is Canada's Fastest Growing Online Insurance Provider. In 2018 we landed on the Growth 500 list in the #22 spot for Canada and #1 in AB! We made the top 100 on the 2019 list and hope to make it again in 2020.
We started in 2011 in a small town in Alberta with a few employees. Today we have more than 100 employees spread across six provinces and two territories, and offices in both Magrath AB, Burlington, and Cambridge ON. Our success story that didn’t see small-town values as a hindrance. Instead, we embraced it as a strength right alongside technological innovation. We are always advancing in technology, communication, innovation, and customer service!

Company Culture and ValuesFor an online business, we care deeply about the people who make the company work. We want to be in the business of helping other people be successful.
The co-founders describe Surex as a “people company” that sells insurance. We feel an enormous amount of personal responsibility to help develop our employees and enable their success by providing them the tools and the environment that they need to do so. That drive leads the business, and each individual’s personal success is a win for the company. If our employees are not successful, we feel that we’ve let those employees down.
Surex works with brokers across Canada, some of whom service clients across different time zones. They may also be based outside of the company’s major offices in Magrath and Burlington. Despite the fact that their workforce is largely remote, Surex has had an effective onboarding experience that has created an engaged workforce.
The team understands that success is not just about hitting your numbers. We also understand that life happens and despite best efforts to compartmentalize, it can affect work. We offer full support to our staff when they need flexibility. In one example, where a broker’s child had to undergo medical treatment in the U.S., the company rallied together to raise funds for the broker’s family, and we enabled the broker to continue working as needed in the U.S. while he was there with his child.
